    ICP Definition

    Definition:  Ideal Customer Profile or ICP in sales and marketing refers to a detailed description of a fictitious entity that represents the perfect customer for a company’s product or service.

    This profile is created based on various characteristics such as demographic details, behavioral traits, specific needs, and purchasing capacity. The ICP helps businesses to focus their marketing and sales efforts on the most promising prospects, ensuring a more efficient allocation of resources and a higher probability of successful conversions.

    Note that companies with multiple products have multiple ICPs. The ICP in sales of a company’s enterprise product is not the same as the ICP for a starter product or gateway drug.
