How to Use This Free Keyword Multiplier
Before you start your keyword research, be sure you understand keyword types and audience<>value prop pairs.
Let’s say your goal is to find keywords that can drive your sales funnel for either PPC or SEO targeting, you’ll want to come up with phrase concepts and then use the multiplier to find all the variations that might be opportunities.
STEP 1: Choose Your First Phrase Concept
Let’s say you sell yard services in your city. We’ll use Sales Funnel Professor’s home base of Atlanta, Georgia, United States for this example.
Yard is acting as an adjective for services. Atlanta is the location we care about.
Column 1: yard
Column 2: services
Column 3: atlanta
You’ll choose your own basic concept and split it our similarly between the columns.
Step 2: Load Up Each Column with Variations
Below “yard” in column 1, add grass, landscape, garden, etc. as alternative ways someone might specify the services needed.
In column 2, you would add alternatives to “services” such as mowing, maintenance, cutting, etc.
In column 3, we’re looking for people in a major metro area, which has named neighborhoods.
So we arrive at something like this:
STEP 3: Choose Your Output Type & Hit Process to “Multiply” Your Keywords
If you’re wanting to load phrases directly into Google Ads, you can specify the phrase matching syntax.
If you’re going to use the output in a research tool such as Ahrefs or SEMRush, you can leave broad match as the setting, but you may wish to include 2-word phrases and/or all orders before processing.
You’ll get a list of phrases that is ready for copy-paste or export.
STEP 4: Use the Keyword Multiplier Output In Your Tool of Choice
When we import these phrases in Ahrefs, we get output that looks like this:
We then use the combination of your average ARR, search volume, and either keyword difficulty (SEO) or CPC (PPC) to determine which of these phrases we want to use as tops of our inbound funnels.
A KD of “NA” on a highly relevant phrase with intent looks like a great SEO opportunity for a company that likely as an ARR north of $1k even on small clients. A CPC of $4 also looks attractive.
A keyword difficulty of 24 looks challenging for a company that has not done SEO historically (little to no domain authority) but is very achievable for a page who been diligently growing its authority.
These are the types of insights you’ll want to deserve before deciding on your list of focus phrases.
